The Truth About Brett Favre
The truth about Brett Favre is this: he doesn’t care about winning.

Maybe he did years ago, but who’s to say now besides him and opinions. But I believe that Brett Favre doesn’t care about winning another Super Bowl. Nor does he care about his teammates or the fans of the Green Bay Packers. What Brett Favre does care about is records.
Every year Favre kept pushing his retirement off for another season, supposedly hoping to win another big one. Then last year happened. Favre started playing with a new rejuvenation and took his young squad to a score away from the Super Bowl. The team is the youngest in the league, so one would only expect them to be in position to contend for another Super Bowl as long as they’re in the weak NFC (not to mention the obvious front runner for the NFC North division). And what better way to go out on top? Win a Super Bowl and then call it a career, like another all-time great in John Elway. But Brett doesn’t see it that way.
He’s been quoted on claiming that if he were to make the Super Bowl and lose next season, it would be worse than not making the big game at all. I never thought quitter would be a word I’d use to describe Brett Favre, but I’d say it more than fits here. He’s played 17 years. That’s 17 times he had the possibility of making the Super Bowl and losing but he never decided to quit on his team any of those times. If that’s his real reasoning, it’s pretty pathetic, but I believe it’s just an excuse.
Now this year with a Super Bowl contending team and a group of young players who would kill to get there, he quits on them. Now I was definitely one of the people who supported giving Aaron Rodger playing a couple of years ago. But now’s not the time anymore, they’ve missed that opportunity. They should’ve started Rodgers when the team stunk a couple years ago. Now they have a team that can win this season, and they can’t afford the have their quarterback learn on the job. They could’ve fixed this mistake years ago, but Brett was too selfish to give up the consecutive starts streak for that. Now they’re squandering their year with essentially a rookie quarterback when they could’ve been contending with an all-time great.
I’ll also add that Favre agent was trying to play up that the team didn’t show him he door, but they didn’t make him feel wanted either. Awww, poor baby didn’t think millions of dollars were enough to make him feel wanted. What about your teammates who counted on you? What about the fans who responded to the retirement like one of their parents just died? And I’m not even exaggerating there. Favre and his agent are making excuses to try to cover up the simple fact that the only reason Favre didn’t retire last year was because he wanted the damn records.
This past season, he broke the record for most touchdown passes, total yards passing, and most wins as a starter as a quarterback. And outsde of the rushing yards record, I’d say the passing touchdowns record was the most important record in football. I would argue now that all you have to do is dupe a team into being loyal enough to let you start for them for 17 years or so. Same with the yards record, you play enough, of course you’re going to break it. Did I mention he also broke them all-time interception record this year? Yeah, they don’t call him the gunslinger for nothing. He’s got the touchdown and yards records because he passes the ball so much and with so little care and finesse thathe also earned the dubious interception record. And as for all time wins. Yeah, that’s nice and all. But how many Super Bowls do you have again, Brett? Look at someone else who many think will go down as the greatest quarterback in NFL history, Tom Brady. He’s played about a third of the amount of the Brett has, but why do they already consider Brady to be an all-time great? He’s got three rings versus Favre’s one. And don’t try to say that Brady has had better teams than Favre. Name me a few receievers and running backs Brady has won with. He din’t even win the year he was stacked on offense. But I’ve buttered Brady up way too much.
Sure Favre is an all-time great. But he’s not the greatest ever. And contrary to what he may have thought, records don’t make you the best ever. Ask Barry Bonds. Besides that, the best players ever aren’t known as much for the mistakes they’ve made and their selfishness, but simply for their greatness. How did Favre’s last ever NFL pass end again? Oh yes, very fittingly.
With an interception.

hahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahaha, all i can do is laugh
This is one of the worst things I’ve ever read online, and I’m very open to what people write but this is just rediculous bull shit.
Nobody claimed perfection with Brett, including himself. What makes him as great as he is, is that he is HUMAN. He is the most down to earth NFL player there is. He doesn’t want his private life played out in the press, but it is and it is dealt with. HIs father’s death, his brother in law’s death, his wife’s cancer….give the man a break! That’s all private family stuff! He is an awesome person who’s wife and himself have constantly given back to us, both ON and off the field. We would welcome the “imperfect” QB back anytime. So keep your crappy story writing to yourself, and maybe write about something worth while.
you are a fucking moron….
Where the hell have you been the last 17 years? Have you ever actually WATCHED a Packer game before? You are ridiculous.
Screw this site…you have no idea what you’re talking about…The writer of this is probably some punk who doesn’t know the mental strain of studying an opponent week in and week out, much less the physicality of an off-season workout 5-6 days a week. Favre has probably put up with more in a week than you have in 10 years.
Tom Bradys a fuckin pussy!!
First, I am a life long (46 years) Packer Fan and shareowner since the last offering. I was originally against Favre and in favor of Detmer – go figure. But Favre eventually stole my heart. But, whoever you are, those, unfortunately, are my thoughts exactly. I can’t believe he quit. I am an old man, and I feel like when my first wife left me.
By the way, his first pass was intercepted as well.
I know this will be Rogers first season. Don’t count him out. Because Brett quit on them, I think many Packers players are rallying around the flag. I have a feeling that the Pack is going to come together and actually turn out to be better this year.
Favre will have his Tiki moment.
I don’t ever do this to people’s columns, but you are an idiot. A)you should clean up your sentences because you have so many grammatical errors, it makes you seem like an idiot and b)some of your arguments are ridiculous. For example: Barry Bonds-okay did Brett Favre inject himself with steroids…? so that is outlandish, and exactly how many receivers can you name that Brett Favre played with? Oh wait I forgot, who got 3 consecutive NFL MVPs? But I mean Brett Favre isn’t that great though, he has the dubious all time interception record, but yards and touchdown records don’t make up for that i guess… Oh and the AFC being tougher? Last time i checked the NFC won the Super Bowl AND the Pro Bowl(just some facts for you)
Keg Man is the smartest out of all of you. At least he didn’t come barging in with idiotic, insulting comments like the rest of you. I bet you all feel ignorant now.
brett favre is such a fucking pussy. i only read the first few sentences and almsot threw up. who would ever read an article about brett favre, what a fucking waste of time. fucking cheesehead imbred fuckfaces, i hate wisconsin and brett favre can lick my balls. bitchessssss.
Chicago/Bears fan/whatever, are you a dumbass? If you only read the first few sentences, why would you throw up (unless you’re actually a pseudo Favre fan)? I completely bashed Favre throughout the article.
Don’t be a moron.
how true this has turned out to be
